New Article on Mediatization of Science out in Science Communication

A new publication by Ana Ivanova (U Hamburg), Mike S. Schäfer (IPMZ, U Zurich) et al. analyses the relationship between scientists and the media. Using mediatization theory, it explores whether scientists’ interactions with the media and journalists as well as scientists’ adaptation to media criteria have increased. Based on a comprehensive survey of 1,130 German climate scientists, it finds that media interactions are more common for high-ranking scientists, while an adaptation to media criteria is more typical for scientists with less experience.
