Master Program
The students in the MA program chose a small and a large "Main Focus Module" from the program of main focuses as follows:
- "Political Communication and Media Policy". Analysis of the relations among political actors and organizations with media actors and media organizations on the one hand and citizens and audience members on the other hand. The major issues are, e.g.: Mediatisation of political organizations, political communication cultures, change of political journalism, media regulation and self-regulation, Swiss media system etc.
- "Media Economy and New Media". Analysis of the economic, technological, and societal conditions of media markets, strategies of media organizations and the quality and diversity of media products. The major issues are, e.g.: Media brands, economy of TV-entertainment production, international comparison of advertising, media marketing and brand management, media governance and mediamatic, new business models etc.
- "Mass Communication and Effects", Analysis of the motives of media use, the processes of media reception and media effects. Major issues are, e.g.: Entertainment research, emotions media effects, persuasion and advertising effects, media content, knowledge acquisition and attitude formation in the field of risk communication, evaluation of prevention campaigns, media use of children and adolescents etc.
