The Division on Media Change & Innovation offers courses within IPMZ’s curriculum and supervises master theses and dissertations in its research and teaching areas. Research results of the division are incorporated in the courses offered. The topics taught in the courses comprise the phenomenon of convergence and the consequences of digitalization, regulatory challenges for telecommunications and mass media, and questions of internet governance. Areas of interest include the international domain name administration, the protection of intellectual property, the regulation of search engines, spam, virtual worlds as well as data and youth protection. Further subjects of interest are theories of media change and their schools of thought as well as questions regarding user created content and Web 2.0 services such as blogs, Wikipedia and YouTube.
