Werner Wirth, Prof. Dr. M.A., studied Communication Science, Psychology, Statistics, Sociology and Informatics in Munich. Lecturer and research assistant at the universities of Munich, Leipzig, and Hanover (HMT). 2002-2003, professor for Online Commmunication and Multimedia at the University of Munich. Since September 2003 he is full professor at the University of Zurich, Institute of Mass Communication and Media Research (IPMZ), leader of the Department for Empirical Methods, Media Psychology and Media Effects. During March and April 2010, he was a visiting professor at the University of New South Wales, School of Psychology, Australia. His fields of interests are media psychology, media reception and effects focussing on persuasion and emotion, and empirical methods. Research fields are political communication, entertainment research, advertising effects, finance communication and behavioral finance, online and mobile communication.
